Getting to know your new sewing machine
Got yourself a lovely new sewing machine but absolutely no idea how to use it? Book yourself on this one-to-one one hour session which will see you learn all the main functions on your machine and do a test swatch of your different stitches.
We will cover:
Looking at your machine and knowing what each button/dial is for
Removing and replacing feet on your machines
Explaining how fabric moves through your machine and what you should/shouldn’t do
How to replace your needle
Winding your bobbin
Threading your machine
Inserting your bobbin correctly and how to draw the thread up through your machine
Changing different stitch/stitch functions
How to sew at different seam allowances
Learning what the reverse function is for and how to use it
Doing a test sew and creating a little sampler of your available stitches for you to use as reference when you start sewing.
When you finish the session you will be less afraid of using your machine and feel confident to use it at home. You can then book on the Learn to Sew course and you will feel at home with your own machine to create your first sewn products! If you book the Learn to Sew course within four weeks of undertaking this session you will get a discount of £15 against the Learn to Sew Course.
All you need to bring along is your machine. The course fee includes a Coats Moon thread in the colour of your choice and your test fabrics.
